Simple, Delicious & Dog-Friendly "Hot Chocolate": The Pawfect Après Beverage to Share with Your Pawl This Winter

Dog-friendly hot chocolate recipe

Everyone likes to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate after a nice day spent in the mountains. And the good news is that you can treat your pawl with the same winter delicacy, too!

But before you get excited about sharing your cup of hot cocoa with your pup, remember that chocolate contains theobromine, which can be toxic to dogs. Never give your dog chocolate, cocoa powder, or hot cocoa mixes.

Carob, on the other hand, is a cocoa alternative that is safe and yummy for both hoomans and doggies to enjoy.

Carob

The amazing thing about carob is that it doesn’t contain any theobromine. Made from the bean pods of the carob tree, carob is 100% natural and healthy for dogs. On top of that, it is free of caffeine, fromamide, or phenylthlamine, other dangerous substances found in chocolate. It also contains a moderate amount of fiber, potassium, and vitamins.

Coconut milk

In moderation, coconut milk may even offer a few health benefits such as:

  • Helping fight viruses
  • Improving the immune system
  • Adding shine to their coat
  • Improving their breath

Honey

Honey – “the nectar of the Gods” – provides many health benefits for both humans and their pawls. It contains many nutrients, like vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K, along with minerals such as zinc, iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, and copper. In its raw form, it has antifungal, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties, along with some powerful antioxidants. All these provide many health benefits your pup can enjoy.
